INTERVIEW WITH MR. FERRITTO AND PARKER!
On Sunday December 4th 2016, Kids for causes had the opportunity to interview Mr John Ferritto. Mr Ferritto owns Parker, a Belgium Malinios. Parker is Mr Ferittos service dog who helps him throughout the day.
Mr Ferritto got Parker three and a half years ago, when Parker was 5 months old in North Carolina from Dogs by Andy.
Parker loves people; he loves to be petted; and he allows people to forget about their troubles. Parker goes everywhere with Mr Ferritto. He goes shopping, to the barber, to the doctor, and out to eat. While Mr Ferritto is at work he thinks Parker sleeps because wen he gets home Parker is full of energy.
Parker is also a therapy dog. He visits hospitals, schools, and reads with children. He loves people.
The difference between a service dog and a therapy dog is a service dog works for an individual with a disability. A therapy dog works with a group in making them feel safe and comfortable. Originally Parker was only a service dog, however Parker has been trained to become a therapy dog and is still going through training.
Mr Ferritto brings Parker to K9 training three times a week. When a dog is a puppy training is a minimum of three weeks and Mr Ferritto continues this training three times a week.
Parker is an exceptional dog. He requires special training and a special diet, however he plays just like any other dog and he loves his ball.
K4C has interviewed Mr Ferritto and Parker to learn about service and therapy dogs. K4C has raised money for paws for war to help contribute to the cost for training service dogs to help members of the military who suffer PTSD.
Thank you Mr Ferritto and Parker, K4C not only learned a great deal, but enjoyed the interview. It was great meeting both you and Parker.
